Teri’s Priorities:

Rebuild trust and unity through honest, two-way communication with families, staff, and the community

Transparency and open dialogue are the foundation of a strong school district. This means not only keeping the public informed, but also truly listening to the concerns, ideas, and feedback of all stakeholders. I believe we can and must do better. Our community is divided, and rebuilding trust requires more than slogans—it requires acknowledging past divisions and committing to consistent, respectful communication that values every perspective and fosters a shared sense of purpose.

Support and empower our educators to do their jobs without unnecessary burdens

Teachers and staff are at the heart of student success, and they deserve to be treated as trusted professionals. Right now, we’re heading in a direction that not only adds more hurdles to an already demanding job but also signals a troubling lack of confidence in their expertise. I will advocate for removing politically motivated distractions, reducing red tape, and ensuring our educators have the tools, time, and support they need to focus on what matters most: educating students. When we support our educators, we strengthen the entire school community.

Make every tax dollar count in order to achieve long-term goals

Taxpayers deserve a district that treats every dollar with care and purpose. That means avoiding short-term thinking and instead focusing on strategic investments in areas that will pay off for years to come—like safe, modern facilities, quality staffing, and student-centered programming such as all-day kindergarten. I will work to ensure that budgeting is transparent, fiscally responsible, and guided by long-range planning that aligns with our educational goals. We must be thoughtful and efficient in how we allocate resources so that we meet both the current and future needs of our students and community.

Ensure that all families have a meaningful voice in decisions that affect their child’s education

Families deserve to be heard—not just during public comment, but in meaningful ways throughout the decision-making process. True partnership means creating accessible, inclusive, and ongoing opportunities for families to contribute to the decisions that shape their children’s education. That includes proactively engaging underrepresented voices and removing barriers to participation. I believe a school system thrives when all families feel heard, valued, and empowered. Building that kind of culture takes intentional effort—and I am committed to making it a priority.
